The Heart of Our Surf Club

 At the beginning of each season, you'll receive your patrol roster, so you know when you're on duty.  Patrols generally occur once every four weeks and run for approximately four to six hours. If you're unable to attend a patrol, please let your Patrol Captain know as early as possible so a qualified substitute can be arranged.

Working together ensures every patrol is fully staffed and ready to keep the beach safe.

 Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club patrols the designated section of Wamberal Beach, with the flagged swimming area positioned according to daily surf and weather conditions.

Our members continually monitor changing conditions, assist beachgoers and respond to emergencies throughout each patrol.

 Patrolling members are supplied with the official Surf Life Saving patrol uniform, including:

• Yellow patrol shirt 
• Red patrol shorts 
• Red and yellow patrol cap 

The uniform allows members of the public to easily identify lifesavers when assistance is needed. 

Patrol uniforms can be collected from our Director of Lifesaving.

 Learning doesn't stop after your Bronze Medallion.

We offer a wide range of education opportunities that allow members to build new skills and become involved in different areas of lifesaving.

• First Aid 
• Patrol Leadership 
• Trainer and Assessor pathways

 Every active lifesaver must complete an Annual Skills Maintenance (Requal) before each patrol season.

This mandatory assessment ensures members remain current and confident in their lifesaving skills.

The session includes practical assessments such as:

• Run–Swim–Run 
• CPR and resuscitation 
• Rescue techniques 
• Signals 
• Operational knowledge 

Multiple sessions are held each year to make attendance as easy as possible.

Members wishing to compete in Surf Sports must complete the minimum patrol hour requirements set by Surf Life Saving Australia.

Currently, competitors are required to complete 25 patrol hours during the season to remain eligible to compete.

Every patrol completed helps keep Wamberal Beach safe.

Members who fulfil their patrol commitments throughout the season are recognised at the Club's Annual Presentation Night, celebrating their contribution and commitment to the community.
