The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (Duke of Ed) is a globally recognised youth development program that encourages young people to build confidence, develop new skills, and make a positive contribution to their community.
Open to young Australians aged 14–24, the Award challenges participants to set personal goals across four areas: volunteering, physical recreation, skill development, and adventurous journeys. Through these experiences, participants discover their strengths, develop resilience, and gain valuable life skills that prepare them for the future.
As a Duke of Ed Award Unit, Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club provides members with the opportunity to complete many Award activities through their involvement in surf lifesaving. Volunteering, patrols, training, leadership, and personal development can all contribute towards achieving a Duke of Ed Award.
